I grew up in Ensign, a small town in southwest Kansas. My family owned and operated a John Deere dealership. We farmed as well, growing wheat and corn. My Dad, Grandpa, and Uncle Donnie taught me the importance of working hard but smart, and still taking time for the important things in life like family and God. Of course, we always took time out of our schedule for baseball and fishing.
Ensign’s school closed during my grade school years, and I switched to Fowler where my mom was a high school teacher. As most kids in a small school, I was very involved with activities: sports, band, vocal, quiz bowl, etc… I was taking all of the classes to prepare me for business so that I could work with my family and continue to grow the dealership. My junior year I tore my ACL in my left knee. After 6 months of therapy following my surgery, I was released to play basketball. I tore it again 5 days later. Sports were everything to me at the time. I didn’t understand why this had to happen to me. Over the next several months I prayed and spoke with God trying to understand why. After many conversations, I finally understood…I was supposed to be a Physical Therapist. Now, my most frequent prayer is for peace and understanding.
I attended FHSU and graduated with a B.S. in Biology. After graduating in 1997, I attended the University of Kansas Medical Center and graduated with a M.S. in Physical Therapy in 1999. I worked in two smaller communities St. Francis and Scott City, Kansas, before moving to Hays in 2007. In February of 2007, I took a position at the Center for Health Improvement at Hays Med quickly advancing to the manager of Outpatient rehab. In December of 2011, I started working with Joey Koerner with Koerner Chiropractic. Together we created Koerner Chiropractic and Physical Therapy. It was with a heavy heart that I left there, but felt the intense desire to open my own Physical Therapy facility. I created Herrman Physical Therapy & Wellness, LLC in March of 2017 and opened the doors April 17, 2017. A dream come true.
I am happily married to my beautiful wife Tina (Brungardt) from Walker, KS and we have four wonderful children. My oldest is Alexandra who loves the arts. She’s involved in music, plays, forensics, and loves to paint and draw. Jessica and Nicholas are twins. Jessica loves to play sports and enjoys singing and playing her oboe. Nicholas enjoys sports as well and is involved with chess and scholar’s bowl. He also sings and plays the piano. Kathryn is our youngest and keeps the group entertained as young ones often do. She enjoys soccer and her cats. Tina somehow keeps everyone’s schedule straight, works 30 hours a week and still keeps the house in order. I am truly blessed to have them all in my life.
I spend my free time coaching the kids in their various sports, fishing, hunting and watching our beloved Royals and Jayhawks. The kids and I sing at St. Nicholas of Myra Parish and Tina is a Faith Formation teacher there as well.
I was born and raised in Hays, KS, graduating from Hays High School in 2004. I was involved in Science Club, Dead Poets’ Society, FFA, CYO, and volunteering at St. Joseph Food Pantry. I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies with an emphasis in Gerontology from Fort Hays State University. I decided to continue down the philanthropic path by returning to FHSU to receive certification in Massage Therapy.
I am the mother of a sweet and energetic boy who keeps me on my toes! I chose to raise Aiden in Hays to be closer to our friends and family, whom we enjoy spending time with. We are an active family that enjoys the outdoors, running, going to the gym, walking our dog, and volunteering to coach Aiden’s sports teams.
We are members of St. Nicholas of Myra Church.
I was lucky growing up in Dodge City, KS. I was an outgoing child and enjoyed singing, dancing, and playing drums and guitar. I was fortunate enough to participate in the Marchel Ranch Chuckwagon Dinner and Wild West Show. I performed there every summer for almost 10 years. I went to Cimarron High School where I was involved in many activities including drama, forensics, debate, vocal, and band. I loved helping my grandparents out on their farm and would spend as much time as I could with them. I ended up living with them for a while on their farm in Kalvesta, Ks—probably one of the smallest towns in Kansas. It taught me to appreciate the things I have, and it really taught me how much hard work my grandparents had endured over the years.
I graduated high school in 2008, but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my career, so I took off a couple semesters from school and worked. I ended up at Dodge City Community College from 2010 to 2012 where, after much deliberation, I ended up getting an Associate’s Degree in Accounting. I eventually moved to Hays, KS later that year to continue my education. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies with a concentration in Business from Fort Hays State University in December of 2016.
I met my husband, Devin, a short time after I started school in Hays. He is a native of the area and wants to raise our family here. We were blessed with a tiny, but mighty little girl in 2014. Olivia is the light of our lives and we couldn’t imagine our lives without her. She teaches me something new about myself every day and I am so very thankful for our little girl.
We are members of St. Nicholas of Myra parish in Hays, KS.
