Who We Are

About Troy Herrman

I grew up in Ensign, a small town in southwest Kansas. My family owned and operated a John Deere dealership. We farmed as well, growing wheat and corn. My Dad, Grandpa, and Uncle Donnie taught me the importance of working hard but smart, and still taking time for the important things in life like family and God. Of course, we always took time out of our schedule for baseball and fishing.

Ensign’s school closed during my grade school years, and I switched to Fowler where my mom was a high school teacher. As most kids in a small school, I was very involved with activities: sports, band, vocal, quiz bowl, etc… I was taking all of the classes to prepare me for business so that I could work with my family and continue to grow the dealership. My junior year I tore my ACL in my left knee. After 6 months of therapy following my surgery, I was released to play basketball. I tore it again 5 days later. Sports were everything to me at the time. I didn’t understand why this had to happen to me. Over the next several months I prayed and spoke with God trying to understand why. After many conversations, I finally understood…I was supposed to be a Physical Therapist. Now, my most frequent prayer is for peace and understanding.

I attended FHSU and graduated with a B.S. in Biology. After graduating in 1997, I attended the University of Kansas Medical Center and graduated with a M.S. in Physical Therapy in 1999. I worked in two smaller communities St. Francis and Scott City, Kansas, before moving to Hays in 2007. In February of 2007, I took a position at the Center for Health Improvement at Hays Med quickly advancing to the manager of Outpatient rehab. In December of 2011, I started working with Joey Koerner with Koerner Chiropractic. Together we created Koerner Chiropractic and Physical Therapy. It was with a heavy heart that I left there, but felt the intense desire to open my own Physical Therapy facility. I created Herrman Physical Therapy & Wellness, LLC in March of 2017 and opened the doors April 17, 2017. A dream come true.

I am happily married to my beautiful wife Tina (Brungardt) from Walker, KS, and we have four wonderful children. My oldest is Alexandra who loves the arts, including music, and has a beautiful voice. She is engaged to a fine young man Brady who is in pharmacy school. Jessica and Nicholas are twins. Jessica loves to be involved in activities, including sports, service organizations, and singing in a show choir. Nicholas enjoys sports as well and is involved with scholar’s bowl and managing a social media site for his school. He also sings and plays the piano. Kathryn is our youngest and keeps the group entertained as young ones often do. She enjoys sports, piano, saxophone, singing, and her pets. Tina somehow keeps everyone’s schedule straight, works 30 hours a week managing the clinic, and still keeps the house in order. I am truly blessed to have them all in my life.

I spend my free time coaching the kids in their various sports, fishing, hunting, and watching our beloved Royals, Chiefs, and Jayhawks. And on weekends, you will find me at St. Nicholas of Myra parish where the kids and I cantor at some of the Masses. It is my faith in God that gives me focus for my life.
